↗ Social designer, food enthusiast, bitter reclaimer and researcher working at the intersection of food, ecology, and social practices. My work explores how sensory experiences (especially taste) can reconnect us to what has been bred out, forgotten, or overlooked. Through foraging, craft and collaboration I create tools, tastings and narratives to invite new ways of relating to food, the natural world and lost knowledge.

Ctrl Alt DDW:  Awkard Cues

Oct 2023

Can we unburden our bodies of efficiency, quantification and productivity? During Dutch Design Week, we (the first year’s of Social Design) embraced the inefficiency of awkwardness, frustration and uncertainty at the exhibition DDW Gym: The Body is a Movement at Sector C. Through a series of spontaneous public exercises and interventions, we collaboratively embodied these emotions as playful social glitches. Our intention was to entice the audience to slow down, be confused and take a break from their routine, allowing a moment to observe their surroundings and embrace the awkwardness.

The queue became the obvious departure point and platform in challenging the notion of efficiency and productivity. Through the week of DDW, we have been creating various playful iterations of queues that spontaneously appeared and then receded, nonsensical queuing that allows the audience a moment to observe and pause.
